“Run Toward Yourself.” In Succeeding Outside of the Academy, edited by Kelly Baker and Joe Fruscione. Lawrence: University Press of Kansas. Forthcoming 2018.

ABSTRACT: The majority of PhDs work off the tenure track, either in other positions within universities or beyond academia altogether. In this contribution to the book Succeeding Outside of the Academy, Cathy Hannabach shares her story of how she ran, walked, and danced toward herself as she moved from college professor to founder and president of Ideas on Fire. In the process, she discovered that building a life and a world beyond the academy means using your whole self.
